About Joules

In addition to their online shops and retail stores, Joules also uses many other channels to bring their handcrafted designs to shoppers around the world. They’ve partnered with country shows and wholesale companies to expand their reach, allowing them to play a more prominent role in their customers’ lives.

What began as a small premium lifestyle retailer has grown into a multinational brand with over 2 million customers. In 2015, Joules won the coveted “Fashion Retail Business of the Year” Drapers Award, showcasing the brand’s success in today’s market.

Joules Brand History

Joules’ history began as Joule & Sons, founded in 1977. Tom Joule took control of the business in 1989, and traveled the British countryside selling his clothes at events across the UK. Eventually, he realized his customers were in the market for bright, colorful clothing, which began Joules’ modern design trends.

In 1994, Tom Joule rebranded the company from Joule & Sons to Joules, a name the brand carries today. Until 1999, Joules sold outdoor clothing from other brands at shows around the UK. In March of 1999, Joules sold their first shirt under the Joules brand.

Although Joules has existed since 1977, the brand didn’t open its first retail store until September of 2000. In 2002, Joules launched its first mail order catalog, creating a new way to bring their product to customers across the United Kingdom.

In 2003, Joules opened its website to the public, where customers from around the world can make purchases and have them delivered directly to their door. This marked a new beginning for the company, and has positively impacted their sales over the past decade.

Joules began to grow quickly after the opening of their eCommerce store, and they started the Little Joule line of children’s clothing in 2008. Little Joule attracted thousands of customers to the brand, and eventually lead to the founding of Baby Joule in 2009.

Joules Shipping & Returns

Joules’ customers can have their orders shipped to them in a number of ways. All orders made by 1PM can be picked up from a local Joules retailer in-store for free the following day, eliminating the need for shipping. Those who would rather have their purchase shipped to their home can choose from standard delivery, next day delivery, and Saturday delivery for an additional fee, ranging from £3.95 to £6.95.

Recently, Joules introduced international shipping. Customers from around the world can purchase from the Joules’ online catalog and have it shipped to their door.

All orders made online and in-store are eligible for return or exchange within 28 days of purchase (with the exception of sale items, which can be returned within 14 days of purchase).

Returns and exchanges can be made in-person at any Joules store for free, or returned by mail. Returns made by mail must be shipped with the return sheet included in the original order.

Joules will issue a full refund for any returned item. Purchases made by credit or debit card will be refunded to the card used for purchase. Customers should bring the card used to make their purchase to their Joules location when making a return to ensure they receive their refund.
